Why do we look to others for answers in times of need? Why do we have the uncanny ability to trust that our team can score and win the game right up to the last minute of the game? Why do we respond with fear and sorrow when we hear of a devastating diagnosis from the doctor? HOPE. We want to live. We want our team to win. Our impatience moves us to reach out to others for answers when we cannot wait.

The difficulty of the pursuit of hope comes when discouragement leads to depression which makes hope seem almost impossible and further out of reach. When hope slowly disappears, forward direction in life discouragement takes root and can grow into the great weed of depression, choking out all that is good and necessary for healthy growth. To reengage in HOPE, one must overcome the life season they are in and then begin taking one step at a time.

The best place to start this new journey is to discover (or rediscover) their personal identity, embrace it, and then in the company of another trusted individual move forward to once again reintroduce HOPE into your life direction.

So, a question I have for you is, “Why are people so quick to turn to others (other things) in times of need?” Do we have any criteria to measure why we give others so much trust in directing our lives? In our pursuit of HOPE, do we take our time, do healthy research, and keep open hearts and minds before turning our hearts over to others?

I would love to hear from you. I want to continue learning from others. Let’s share our thoughts together on why, how, or where to people place their hope?

HOPE, or lack of, can drive so much of who we become.
